Favourite Uk Fair?
« on: January 26, 2011, 09:40:59 PM »
Pretty simple question, What's your favourite Uk fair?

I like Hyde Parks winter wonderland and the Nottingham goose fair.

It has to be my local - Goose Fair in Nottingham!

The whole event just adds up to something really special - the setting, on the Forest ground just outside the City centre, the mix of rides and attractions, and the timing, first weekend in October, the end of summer, autumn has set in and on the run up to Christmas!

Perfect!!
Always look for the positive.....

Don't know if this classes as a fair but kind off Southport is a great little place to visit the fair has some good rides like a Frisbee, Log Flume, Spinner and some of M&Ds owned rides such as Spiderman and Big wheel.

This is a tricky one.

Hull Fair for me is very good - nice long cycles and very cheap! prices.

Although I do love Street Fairs more - so Loughborough/Stamford and The back end run like Stratford are amazing atmosphere

Can't say I've been to many but the annual summer fair at Cambridge is pretty huge and I always used to look forward to that.

I'd have to agree about Cambridge fair - it's a great fair and one that I hope to go back to this year.

Although there are a lot that I've been to which i'd also consider among the best - including Hull and a one day fair I went to in Chichester last October.  It had a brilliant atmospshere and some great rides too :D

The 3 biggies were always top of the tree for us, a chance to catch up and chat about how the season was treating each operator, Newcastle, Hull & Nottingham goose ( subject to the horrendous clash of dates that plague the last 2, Notts council do it on purpose you know lol )

Newcastle would come top from a personal stance, but only because we were up against the cream of the crop from the platform world, and then precede to whup each machines ass year after year..

these were the days when the HellRaiser ruled supreme, before those upstarts turned up. ( yeah i'm talking Al Evans and his deathrap Watlzer and Curt Eddy, with his bouncatronic spinny pukey thing,.  ( er... Atmosphere Creator, and Energy Dome lol always get those mixed up lol )

Leeds valentines was a stand up event, before they shifted us to the football car park, big mistake, the city centre setting worked well for that fair, shame they got cold feet.

and special mention to the unsung heroes the out of town small gaffs, the bread an pudding fairs, if only because the location usually does the machines no end of good. Rawcliff green and Huddersfield Easter come to mind here.
