LIB Summer Olympics
« on: January 26, 2011, 10:19:32 PM »
As I don't do Blackpool Pleasure Beach, can I make an early suggestion for a Summer Meet.

The first annual LIB Olympics.

A day of sporting events to determine the undisputed King or Queen of LIB.

Daytime venue:

Stanley Park.

 Events:

Putting. Lowest scorecard
Table Tennis.  Knockout
Crown green bowls. Tbd
Tennis. Knockout

Early evening.

Venue. Arcade somewhere.

Events

Air hockey. Knockout
Basketball shoots. Knockout
Ten pin bowls. Knockout
Donkey derby or Arabian knights. Straight race
Open. Who can win most prize tickets in 10 minutes

Evening

Venue

Bar somewhere

Events

Pool
Snooker
Darts

All knockout.

Just suggesting life in Blackpool outside of BPB.

A quick rethink of timings involved and what is 'do-able'.

Daytime venue:

Stanley Park.

Events:

Putting. Lowest scorecard

Table Tennis.  Knockout -- qualifier round, first to 5. Toss for serve, each player serves twice , swap after 2 serves, first to 5, 2 clear points wins. After qualifier, finals are first to 11, toss serve, change after 2 serves, first to 11 wins, 2 clear points needed to win.

Crown green bowls. Event Dropped as will take too long to decide.

Replaced by :

Crazy Golf, lowest scorecard wins.

Tennis. Knockout ( not sure will be time for this, but maybe a 3 game sudden death format, toss for serve, as per Wii.

Early evening.

Venue. Arcade somewhere.

Events

Air hockey. Knockout ( doable )
Basketball shoots. Knockout ( doable )
Ten pin bowls. Knockout ( not sure there is time, maybe replace with knockout with them bowls you bowl into numbers in circles in arcades )
Donkey derby or Arabian knights. Straight race
Open. Who can win most prize tickets in 10 minutes

Evening

Venue

Bar somewhere

Events

Pool  ( Killer )
Snooker  ( not sure time will allow -- maybe replaced by table-bowls first to 6 -- four can play at once )
Darts ( Round the board )

I think this is a cracking idea Eric and would love to partake but it would depend on the date and I obviously also have to consider the family.

If the family came up as well I'm sure the kids would want to get involved, but I also understand a 7 and 9 year old could be annoying for the grown ups!!

Been considering venues.

The evening venue could take place at The Philarmonic Club on Foxhall Road.

They let children into a room with a pool table, a dart board and a TABLE FOOTBALL machine -- so another potential sport !!

I will have to find out what time kids are allowed in that room until, I have been in there until gone 7pm with children in the past ( I am sure ).

My children are very well behaved when out Eric - I make sure of that.

Many a time they have been allowed to stay in drinking establishments beyond any curfew and bar staff / landlords / landladies have commented on their good behaviour and that they have been happy to have them in beyond 7pm or whatever.

But, back to the main day and I do stress I can fully understand if others intending on taking part would be put off by having younger children involved. So I am easy with this.

I am the Original Competitive Dad.

I miss having a house full of kids to beat at every wii game, since they moved out last year.

You got the arcade sorted, full run of the place with free games and prizes as applicable.

were hosting many one off event related days and weekends this season, ( details to follow ) and this would fit the bill nicely.
