Southend - Easter Weekend 2011
« on: May 18, 2011, 05:38:00 PM »
For our final trip whilst away at Easter, we visited Southend on the Sunday after Good Friday. The weather was scorching hot and we decided for a long walk along the promenade for a couple of miles. Adventure Island could wait for another day, we agreed.  It was a lovely walk and the views around the Thorpe Marine area are just stunning. You could of been forgiven for thinking you were somewhere exotic, on that hot, sunny day.

Most of the pictures I took were taken whilst walking, so apologies if they are not 100%!

Some pictures as we headed toward the front.

Ben hitches a lift :tongue_smilie:

The Kursaal from a distance. This is the site of the world's first amusement park ;)

We ventured onto the beach, briefly.

Still awaiting a transformation from this...

...to this...

I liked the Hut identification :thumbup1:

We stopped off at Rossi's for ice cream

Adventure Island from a distance.

There is a brilliant fountain area by the front and the public were cooling off in the very hot sunshine

A couple of Rage shots. It's a brilliant ride :thumbup1:  I really wish Yarmouth would get one

Hi

We did Southend a few years back and the weather was like it was for you, we stayed in a place about 5 miles outside the town, we also did a trip to London via train on the sat, I must say its very like Yarmouth in that you could not find enough stuff to do there for a week, but as a base to tour the local area it's a good place to visit, we also did Canvey Island, but this was more becuase i had heard there was an arcade or two there with some classic machines there, and there was.

Regards
