Hyde Park Winter Wonderland 2011
« on: November 20, 2011, 09:59:08 PM »
So myself my wife, Admin Adz, Mark, Mark, George, Nick & Stu all went off to London this weekend to the annual Hyde Park -Winter Wonderland!

I love this event! - Its magical! Imagine a German funfair with all the trimmings. Gorgeous hand crafted gifts for sale, copias ammounts of German Beer and Mulled Wine and Continental food and you have this event.

Food is pentlyfull here For a full helping of Bavaria, the Bavarian Village. Bigger and better than ever, you’ll find bratwurst, bars, live bands and more all in the heart of Winter Wonderland.

Its probably one of the best run events in this country by far.

It boats a outdoor skating rink which is created from real ice Stretching over 1,600m2, the outdoor rin is the biggest of its kind in the UK. At night the ice rink is transformed, illuminated by no less than 108,000 pea-lights.

The Giant observation wheel gives breathtaking views across London (for those who might recognise it, its the old Observation wheel from Fantasy Island in Skegness now owned by Nottingham based Mellors Group)

Zippos brings two shows this year – Zippos Christmas Circus exploring the magic of Christmas around the world, and Cirque Extreme, a daredevil show with the most thrilling acts the world of circus has to offer.

This year there wseven more bars, cafes, restaurants and eateries. The amazing new Carousel Bar, which rotates gently whilst you sip on your mulled wine! Other highlights include the House of St Nicholas, Reindeer’s Rest Bar, Pizza Express and The Star Tavern providing real ales & cider as well as traditional fare hog roast and fish & chips. The Spiegel Saloon Bar & Restaurant, set in an antique travelling ballroom, made a welcome return with free evening performances.

It truly is an amazing event. World Class infact.

It puts pretty much every theme park in this country to shame with the level of detail and quality of attractions on offer.
Live your life without regret. Don't be someone who they forget!

Enjoyed reading this with the snow flakes cascading across the screen

Hopefully off to the German market in Birmingham in a few weeks. No fun fair, but the crafts on offer along with the bier and bratwurst make it well worth the visit.

It was bloody cold when we did it last year. I'm almost hoping for more of the same as it made it seem so seasonal
