ABC Cinema
« on: March 02, 2013, 11:29:40 PM »
I have been told by another ex-pat out here in Spain who is also from Blackpool that the beautiful ABC cinema (as was) is being demolished. Has it happened yet? I have a very fond memory of sleeping outside on the steps at the entrance overnight sometime in the late 70's waiting to buy tickets to see Genesis in concert there. By about 4am (nobody actually slept of course) the queue of people in sleeping bags went all the way back to the bus station. Just when we were all at our coldest (I think it was around Jan/Feb) the workers from Derbyshire's the bakers all came round with trollies and handed out tea and freshly made, still warm bread straight from their factory. It makes me very sad sometimes to see how Blackpool's council only seem to see £ signs and totally fail to see the damage they are doing to Blackpool's history. Sorry if I am posting a lot today but I am on a nostalgia binge it seems lol.

There has been lots of activity and action groups set up..
