Blackpool Winter Visit Jan 17th 2015
« on: January 26, 2015, 09:39:12 AM »
A couple of weekends ago, we took a last minute break in my favourite place, Blackpool. There is plenty to do all year round and our Merlin passes come in handy, too  :thumbup1:

We had a long journey both ways, as we were considerably slowed down through Yorkshire, due to snowy weather. As soon as we were half an hour away from Blackpool though, the weather cleared up. Apologies in advance, for the photos coming from my mobile.

Ben prepared himself after the early waking up

We drove through some very wintry weather on the M62.

But then we arrived in sunny Blackpool

We checked into our hotel and then immediately headed straight for The Tower for the Panto/Circus.

The Panto was good fun and it's always a joy to see Mooky in action.  Despite being the last weekend of the panto, it was almost full and everyone really enjoyed it.

We popped into the Sealife Center. We just love this place.

You can pay to be in the shark pool! (But you wouldn't catch me in there)  :scared:

It was a pleasure to see the Tower lit up at night.

We ventured into Coral Island, the next morning.

Ben had a go on a motorbike game.

We also did some shopping in Hounds Hill shopping Centre. We haven't been in there for years and we were very impressed by it's refurbishment. (No pictures.)

Overall, we had a great visit to Blackpool. There were plenty of tourists around for the off season and the town was busy with shoppers. It was great to see my favourite town doing well in January and this bodes well for the upcoming season.

Some major changes have occurred on the promenade and it looks very appealing now, especially around Ocean Boulevard, which had previously looked quite derelict for some time.  Well done Blackpool. Things are looking great!

Chris.

That's the great thing about Blackpool, there is always something to do all year around. (Admittedly not so much down the South side, mind.)

Thank you for the report & photos! much appreciated.
